Louis Block is a painter and writer based in Brooklyn with a decade of experience in arts publishing and administration, serving as a Managing Director at the Brooklyn Rail since 2022 and now at KUNSTRAUM.
Louis’s work has been shown in New York, Jersey City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Annapolis, Chicago, and Venice. He is the recipient of a 2025 fellowship at the Edward F. Albee Foundation in Montauk and a 2026–27 Sharpe-Walentas Studio Program Residency.
His writing and interviews with artists have been published in the Brooklyn Rail, Border Crossings, Hyperallergic, and Full Bleed Journal.
I really like how Kunstraum is welcoming new leadership while staying true to its creative mission. Reading about the balance between continuity and fresh vision reminds me of the rhythm I practice in reflex games like Slope. That focus and adaptability in play feels similar to guiding an organization into its next chapter.
