We are happy to welcome Kunstraum's new CCA, Imogen Aukland! Imogen is a Brooklyn-based curator who focuses on highlighting emerging and early-career artists working across photography, performance, print, sculpture, painting, and hybrid practices. Her curatorial approach is grounded in close collaboration with artists and a commitment to shaping thoughtful, accessible contexts as work moves from the studio into public view.

Working in a time of rapid social, technological, environmental, and political change, Aukland approaches exhibition-making as a research-driven practice that situates individual projects within broader cultural frameworks. She is particularly interested in how process-based and interdisciplinary practices can open up new modes of visibility, dialogue, and community engagement within contemporary art spaces.

Aukland’s curatorial work is informed by extensive hands-on experience in gallery and studio contexts. She has worked closely with artists and curators at Dinner Gallery in New York, supporting exhibition development, installation, artist relations, and public-facing programming. Her practice is shaped by sustained, dialogical relationships with artists, emphasizing experimentation, material research, and the evolution of ideas over time.

Recent curatorial projects include an emerging artists showcase in collaboration with Dinner at the Hilton New York Times Square (2025); Intermission, a group exhibition at The Clearing in the Hudson Valley (2024); and Keep off the Grass at Steuben Gallery at Pratt Institute (2024). Aukland’s curatorial philosophy is rooted in building intentional relationships between artworks, artists, and the public; treating the exhibition space as a site for curiosity, conversation, and connection.
