Iva Pešić (b.1983) concerns herself with the uncanny. As Freud put it "that  class of the terrifying which leads back to something long known to us, once very familiar.”

Through Jungian interpretations of symbols and archetypes, an attempt is made to give  the matherial an instantly recognizable meaning that comes from the collective  unconsciousness but emerges as individual narrative. In the physical process of their  reappearance, a part of the artist is expressed as well; a veiled, subtle, indistinct part.  There is a nameless anxiety throughout as well as blissful contentment, childlike  frustration or sappy sentimentalism. Showing us how we truly are, absurd and ridiculous  predatory or subdued.

Iva Pešić graduated with a B.A. in Fine Arts from the University of Fine Arts in  Belgrade ( 2008 ) and has been a member of the ULUS association from 2010. She was a finalist of the Malamegi Lab Roma Award in 2024, was a resident artist at the  Cite International des Arts in Paris twice for more than five months and was a grantee of  the Elisabeth Greenshilds foundation in 2020. The residency in 2020 resulted in a solo  exhibiton at the U10 Art Space, an independant gallery in Belgrade. She was an award  winning artist at Paratissima Skoplje which resulted in an exhibition in the Torino Art Fair  in 2017.
