YENA PARK

Yena Seo‑Yeon Park (b. 2000, Seoul, South Korea) is a New York–based artist whose work examines the shifting terrain of love and memory. Through layered oil paintings in which figures dissolve, reemerge and morph from dense surfaces, she explores the duality of intimacy and loss—where presence meets absence, and tenderness coexists with fear. Guided by an intuitive, emotionally charged use of color, her imagery draws from personal mythology, oneiric symbolism, and traces of memory. Motifs such as thorns, branches, flowers, and celestial forms weave through her paintings as evolving markers of life, death, and transformation. Park approaches painting as a vulnerable dialogue—one grounded in her experience as a queer Asian woman navigating the ephemerality and intangibility of love, memory, longing, and the unseen realms that shape them.
