MARIA LUZ
Maria Luz is a Portuguese visual artist based in Lisbon. She holds a BA in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon (2021), having previously studied Industrial Design at ESAD.CR in Caldas da Rainha. Her artistic practice centres on oil painting and analogue photography, exploring themes of solitude, memory, and the search for beauty in everyday urban life.
Deeply inspired by Lisbon, the city where she was born and has spent most of her life, Maria's work portrays abandoned objects, quiet streets, and fleeting moments of light. Through colour and atmosphere, she creates images that evoke nostalgia while reflecting on the emotional landscape of contemporary city life. Her practice investigates loneliness in the everyday, transforming overlooked places and objects into contemplative spaces charged with emotion and memory.
