Marcos Mion

Marcos Mion (Córdoba, Argentina, 1977) is an interdisciplinary visual artist whose work spans collage, painting, and object art, and who is currently expanding his practice into digital environments in virtual reality (VR). His visual language is characterized by a dense, intensely symbolic narrative that intertwines political critique, contemporary spirituality, and cultural memory. Since his arrival in Mexico City, Mion has entered a new phase marked by the direct influence of Mesoamerican worldviews, Toltec thought, and a re-reading of national symbols from the sensitive gaze of an outsider.

In his series “Las 366 Puertas Verdes”, the artist opens a daily door as an introspective and political exercise, combining collage with intervened international press and gestural pictorial layers. His work engages with urgent themes such as migration, populism, disinformation, and systems of control, approached from an aesthetic that fuses Latin American political art with a poetics of spiritual consciousness and collective awakening. Based in the Santa María la Ribera neighborhood, his studio becomes a laboratory for encounters between cultures, sensibilities, and shared memories. This perspective positions him as an emerging and critical voice within the Mexican art scene, particularly in spaces that are committed to social, decolonial, and symbolic discourses.
