Maomao is an artist working across installation, performance, image-making, and participatory projects.

Drawing from East Asian subcultures, consumer culture, digital media, and popular cultural forms, she works with images, objects, narratives, and systems of participation. Her projects often involve the translation and reconfiguration of familiar cultural materials, creating situations that feel simultaneously recognizable and strange.

Positioned between contemporary art and popular culture, her practice explores the shifting relationships between fiction, consumption, collective imagination, and everyday life.
