MALU LAET
Malu Laet (b. Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is a multidisciplinary artist based in New York City. Working across sculpture, installation, video, performance, sound, and interactive technologies, her practice explores the relationship between technology and myth through a continuous process of world-building.
Drawing from media archaeology, speculative fiction, ritual practices, and computational culture, Malu creates immersive worlds inhabited by avatars, artefacts, and magical technologies. Her projects combine custom-built interfaces, immersive stagings, and narrative structures to explore how virtual realities are captured, embodied, and contested.
Malu holds a BFA in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins, an MFA in Computational Arts from Goldsmiths, University of London, and recently completed an MFA in Fine Art at Pratt Institute. Her work has been presented in New York, London, Rio de Janeiro, and Berlin, including at Harvestworks, Flux Factory, Somers Gallery, Rio Cinema, and Gossamer Fog. She has participated in residencies at CTM Festival and School of Visual Arts.
