TINAN TAM NGUYEN

Tinan Tam Nguyen (they/he) is a conceptual visual artist whose installation-based practice continually attempts to reconcile the artist’s queerness with their family’s history as refugees from Southeast Asia and their own experiences in the US. Recurring ideas that appear in Nguyen's work include: Mahayana and Theravada Buddhist traditions surrounding death, grief, and spirits; East Asian pop culture and illustration; and Southeast Asian textile industries and merchandise. Nguyen recently received their BFA from Rhode Island School of Design, and was an artist-in-residence at the Textile Arts Center from 2019-2020.
