JEAN OH
Jean Oh is a New York-based artist who delves into the subtle imperfections and absurdities that shape our lives. She captures fragments of memories, observations, feelings, and identities through intricate stitching and layered painting, reflecting themes of searching, belonging, and in-betweenness.
Oh earned her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and her MFA from Pratt Institute, and received the Silver Prize at the AHL-T&W Foundation Contemporary Visual Art Awards. Her solo exhibitions have been showcased at the Nars Foundation and Iron Velvet Gallery in New York, and her work has been featured in group shows at Field Projects Gallery and Space 776 Galllery in New York, as well as the CICA Museum in Gimpo, South Korea. Blending recognizable forms with abstract textures, her work invites viewers to explore the instability of human experience.
