Elena Syromyatnikova was born in the city of Orel, Russia. She graduated from Oryol State University where she studied ceramics. She employs traditional methods to make modern ceramics, using hand modeling to create pieces with a variety of texture and color. Her work is inspired by the forest near her hometown and is informed by nature, mythology and the materiality of clay. Syromyatnikova has shown her work in Moscow. St. Petersburg, and Bogordsk. She is a member of the Union of Artists of Russia and the International Association of Art.
