Artist Statement:

"I have almost always gravitated towards non-representational work that focuses on color and surface and how it can create an impression of light and space. My intent is to convey a sense of looking through or passing into an unknown or undefined place just beyond the one currently inhabited by the viewer. I tend to work intuitively, allowing the work itself to guide me in its creation, to become a bridge to its place of origin – a place that is, perhaps, even depicted by the work itself. I take the view that I am not attempting to fool the viewer's eye but agreeing that they are looking at a flat surface and then using that flat surface to provide the elements necessary for a response to the work that resonates in a more emotional, dimensional way."
